English Lavender, or 'Munsted' is not famous for nothing. The fragrance is my personal favorite, the flower exquisite, and something to look forward to every Spring. Lavender is not a no- maintenance proposition, however: it likes to be really cut back, especially the first growing season, which I have unfortunately learned the hard way. It also likes a lot of sun, and sandy, well drained soil otherwise roots are prone to rot. I have this planted on my rood, along with Miscanthus and tea roses, and it looks incredible. Given the right conditions, it makes everyone very, very happy. I cut it and bring it to friends and they love me more for it.
Conditions: Full Sun
Water: Moderate (likes very well-drained soil)
