Hyssop, a spikey purple perennial, is the easier- going sister plant to lavender. I hate to say it but lavender is fussy, and moody--and while Hyssop doesn't have quite the elegance, or fragrance, it's way more adaptive and low- maintenance. It also blooms throughout summer...try 'blue fortune'. Attractive to bees and butterflies, it can look especially awesome coupled with Salvia, Geraniums, Panicum, and Amsonia.
