Echinacea is the great native prairie plant, with showy flowers that bloom from mid summer through Fall. They are incredibly hearty and tolerate dry soil but prefer some water, and love sun but will tolerate partial shade (they need at least 5 good hours of sunlight). These should be deadheaded in late fall to get more flowers. These look great with butterfly weed, eupatorium, and rudbeckia. Great for a planter too.
